#1 Again for Katy Perry, Susan Boyle

Katy Perry's "Firework" continues to shine brightly as it leads the Billboard Hot Digital Songs Chart for a third straight week while Susan Boyle's "The Gift" is still on a roll as it leads the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for a fourth non-consecutive week.

Bruno Mars' "Grenade" is on course to be the next chart topper as the second single from his debut album jumps from #3 to #2 this week on the Hot Digital Songs chart. On the other hand, Taylor Swift is on track to get the top spot back on the Billboard 200 as her third album "Speak Now" continues to show its sales prowess selling 200K this week and climbing back to #2 this week.

After a disappointing start, The Black Eyed Peas' new album "The Beginning" plunges from #6 to #15 this week however the lead single from the album "The Time (Dirty Bit)" is holding well as it only dropped to #3 from #2 last week on the Hot Digital Songs chart.

Incarcerated T.I had an underwhelming start with his new album "No Mercy" debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200 selling 159K. The rapper's last three albums all went straight to #1 selling at least 375K on its first week. T.I's last album "Paper Trail" spawned massive hit singles "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" (featuring Rihanna) which both topped the Hot 100 in 2008 for 7 weeks and 6 weeks, respectively. In comparison, "Get Back Up", the lead single from "No Mercy", peaked at #70 so far on the Hot 100. This week though an album track "That's All She Wrote" which features Eminem, debuts at #8 on the Hot Digital Songs chart selling 109K.

Billboard already released their yearend charts but as some of you may know it only covers from December 2009-November 2010 so as for the calendar year, Paul Grein of Yahoo! Chart Watch is monitoring the tight race between Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls" for the best selling song digitally for 2010. "Hey, Soul Sister" is just ahead of "California Gurls" by two thousand downloads (4,154,000 > 4,152,00) so this is an exciting battle. Check out Paul Grein's Yahoo! Chart Watch extra of the top 20 best selling songs in the US to date for 2010 (here's the link)

And with only 2 weeks left, it's safe to say that Eminem's "Recovery" will be the best selling album in the US for the year. To date, "Recovery" has sold 3,145,760. At #2 is Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" with 2,933,152, it will likely cross the 3 million mark next week. Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" needs to sell at least 650k for the next two weeks to cross the 3 million mark, it seems hard to achieve but with the Christmas weeken ahead, she could possibly do it. But I'm guessing "Speak Now" would only sell 2.8 million by the end of the year which isn't really bad but it be would great if we could have 3 million sellers this year so I hope "Speak Now" could do it :)

The Hot 100 list will be posted tomorrow and "Firework" is expected to be #1 again for a second week so for the meantime here is this week's Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart courtesy of Paul Grein from Yahoo! Chart Watch
  1. Katy Perry - "Firework" (201K)

Meanwhile, here are the Top 25 CURRENT albums on Billboard. I emphasize on CURRENT because this list does not include catalog albums (old albums) like Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" which according to Yahoo! Chart Watch is #11 on the Billboard 200 this week. The reason I'm posting this instead of the Billboard 200 chart is because this is the only one that leaked on Pulse Music Board so better than nothing, right? :)
