Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: February 5, 2011)

"Grenade" by Bruno Mars reclaimed the #1 spot Billboard Hot 100 displacing last week's champion "Hold It Against Me" by Britney Spears which drops down to #6. As noted yesterday, the fall of Spears' newest track is not a surprise for songs that debuted atop the Hot 100 which benefited from frontloaded debut week sales nevertheless with rising airplay and upcoming promo blitz for her new album, I'm pretty sure "Hold It Against Me" will have a good chart run along the way.

Jumping 10 notches from #20 to #10 this week is Pitbull's "Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)" (featuring T-Pain). This is Pitbull's 3rd top 10 hit as a lead artist after "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) which peaked at #2 in 2009 and "Hotel Room Service" which peaked at #8 in the same year.
Overall, this is Pitbull's 5th top 10 as two songs where he was featured peaked at #4 last year, Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" and Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It". "Hey Baby" will likely hit the top 5 next week as it is currently the #2 song on US iTunes

Speakin' of US iTunes, the current #1 is P!nk's latest song "F**kin Perfect". The song rises from #30 - #11 this week and will likely hit the top spot next week which will be her 11th top 10 hit and 4th #1. The song's clean version is simply a version censoring the F-bomb. Just as Cee Lo Green's "F*ck You (Forget You)" don't be fooled by the song's title because I personally find the song good although I do think the F-bomb is not really necessary but I guess the song would not receive that much attention if it weren't for that.

Avril Lavigne's "What The Hell" plunges to #31 after its #13 debut last week. The song is currently #11 on US iTunes so the sales are steady it just needs more airplay to push it back inside the top 20.

Two songs I'm rooting are knocking the Top 40 door. Plain White Ts' "Rhythm of Love" ascends #47 - #41 and right next to it is Train's "Marry Me" which hold the #42 spot for the second week. I hope both songs will reach the top 20 eventually. If both songs reach the top 20 next week it will Plain White Ts' 3rd Top 40 hit (after the #1 smash "Hey, There Delilah" (2007) and "1,2,3,4" which peaked at #34 in 2008) and Train's 6th Top 40 hit and 3rd consecutive after last year's hit singles "Hey, Soul Sister" (#3) and "If It's Love" (#34)

The Script's second album "Science & Faith" debuted in the US this week and charted at #3 on the Billboard 200 selling 49K which helped pushed their song "For The First Time" to #45, up from #80 last week. "For The First Time" is the only the third song from The Script to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 after "Breakeven" (#12) and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" (#86). The Irish band is pretty much successful in the UK and other European countries and they already have a hit in the US with "Breakeven" hopefully they could score another hit or two with their second album.

This could be the final week for Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It", the current longest chart sitter with 37 weeks, as the song drops to #48 this week, two spots away for it to drop out and go recurrent. Waiting in the wings for the longest chart sitter crown are "Animal" by Neon Trees and "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz both 34 weeks on the chart.

Saying goodbye this week on the chart are Flo Rida and David Guetta's "Club Can't Handle Me" which graduated to recurrent status this week after spending 29 weeks on the Hot 100 and peaking at #9. Also going recurrent this week is country group The Band Perry with their song "If I Die Young" which stayed on the chart for 28 weeks and peaked at #19. "No Love" , Eminem's 3rd single from "Recovery" which featured Lil Wayne didn't live up to the chart success of the first two singles "Not Afraid" and "Love The Way You Lie" which both hit #1. The song drops out on the chart this week after 20 weeks and peaking at #23. Other dropouts includes Gwyneth Paltrow's "Country Song" (2 weeks, peak: #81), Michael Jackson and Akon's "Hold My Hand" (9 weeks, peak: #39), George Strait's "The Breath You Take" (20 weeks, peak: #63) and Reba Mcentire's "Turn on the Radio" (18 weeks, peak: #53).
